Strategic Plan 2008-2010

ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING

Strategic Goal #1: to grow our school to 750+ students with a minimum of 540 students in K4-8 and 200+ students in grades 9-12.

Initiatives:

1.1: Help our parents know and understand the distinctive character of our school and the expectations of each grade level.

1.2: Develop and implement an ongoing parent education program to promote biblically-based parenting. Assisting families in the college selection process, helping students to discover their spiritual gifting, and helping parents deal with rebellion and academic frustration are a few examples of topics to be will be addressed.

1.3: Determine what parents value about HCCSA. Determine why parents choose HCCSA over public schools or other private schools and why families decide to leave the school.

1.4: Improve the visibility of the school within both the church community and the community at-large.

SCHOOL CULTURE

Strategic Goal #2:
to create a vibrant school environment that 1) focuses on the important relationships at all levels; 2) Invites the knowledgeable and active involvement of students and families; 3) Errs on the side of grace when at all possible; 4) Strives for excellence in all things; 5) Equips and encourages future world-changers to find their God-given calling; and 6) Views spiritual inspiration and development as just as important as academic growth.

Initiatives:

2.1: Improve the school’s management information system and ensure compliance with existing expectations regarding the posting of lesson plans, homework, and grades.

2.2: Establish a covenantal relationship between the school and home by offering parents opportunities to be positively engaged in the life of the school.

2.3: Improve the learning environment and professional image of the school by establishing and enforcing a mission-appropriate dress code for students, teachers and parents.

2.4: Address the inconsistencies in policies and procedures that exist between the divisions in such areas as late work, homework, grading, classroom conduct, behavioral expectations and consequences.

2.5: Transform current chapel practices to better reflect the mission of HCCSA.

2.6: Create a school-wide service-oriented program or club.

2.7: Develop curriculum and programs to address issues of spiritual calling, leadership, and recognition of character-based achievements.

2.8: Transform the current lunch practices to better reflect the mission of HCCSA.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND INTEGRATION

Strategic Goal #3: to develop a vertically integrated, classical curriculum that provides appropriate class schedules, electives, fine arts, athletic, career and college-prep counseling so that students are able to enter the colleges of their choice and be successful academically, socially, and spiritually as world-changers for Christ.

Initiatives:

3.1: Expand the school’s non-athletic extracurricular offerings to provide a variety of programs and activities which will enrich students’ education and cultivate their individual talents and interests.

3.2: Address the gaps and redundancies in the 12-K4 curriculum.

3.3: Train teachers to emphasize teaching for depth and understanding.

3.4: Promote and maintain balance in the curriculum.

3.5: Develop programs to meet the diverse academic needs of our students.

3.6: Provide a more flexible schedule that provides needed breaks for teachers and students.

FACULTY/STAFF QUALITY

Strategic Goal #4: to provide a comprehensive human resource plan to attract, retain, develop, and compensate highly qualified staff—the “people orientation.”

Initiatives:

4.1: Hire world-class teachers by creating competitive compensation packages and an attractive work environment.

4.2: Develop a plan to actively and aggressively recruit outstanding teachers.

4.3: Foster an environment of mutual trust, transparency, and a strong desire for self-improvement.

4.4: Design programs and provide resources to develop an excellent faculty.

4.5: Reward and retain excellent teachers.
